Women shave heads to protest husband’s detentions in China

Four women have shaved their heads on the streets of Beijing, China to protest against the detention of their husbands.

One of the women, Li Wenzu, whose partner has been in prison since 2015, says she has travelled to the country’s Supreme Court 31 times to try and lodge case documents but has never been let inside.

Wang Quanzhang, a human rights lawyer, was arrested in 2015 along with several others. Mr Quanzhang is accused of undermining the government but has never faced trial.

No officials have been available to comment on the case.
