Re “Women Run in Droves, but Path Narrows” (front page, May 13):
What a downer this article is! If women waited until the time or the circumstances were perfect, we would never achieve parity!
How many studies have shown that women are less likely than men to step forward and say, “I can do this job!”? Well, not anymore. Our time is now.
Women are stepping forward, from fields like medicine, nonprofit community work, business and so on. It is not necessary to have held elected office before running for Congress.
So I say hooray for female candidates! The sheer number will likely produce success.
