The featured presentation was Peter Rabbit.

Besides the movie, hot dogs and popcorn, along with bottled water, were all available for free to those who attended.

Although the turnout may not have been what officers hoped for, they say this is just one more way they get to serve the community.

“The youth, when they see us pull up in the Community Outreach van, they know it’s going to be a fun and exciting event that we’re going to be throwing,” says UPD Community Outreach Officer Jimmy Dongsavanh.

“Sometimes when I’m walking through the stores, people come up to me and say ‘Hey, you do the movie nights’ or ‘You do the barbeques’. So it’s definitely a good feeling when people come up to you and see the good you do for the community.”

The Utica Police Department will be holding free outdoor movie nights throughout the summer.
