MSP Iranian Film Festival: Film Society of Minneapolis-St. Paul’s Iranian Film Festival will be July 27-29. Here’s the lineup: “24 Frames” bridges director Abbas Kiarostami’s work in film and photography; “Ava” follows a young girl’s coming of age in a strict, traditional society; “Israfil” finds a widow meeting her teenage sweetheart, a relationship that ended in scandal; “Pig” is a satire about a filmmaker upset with his waning status — until he becomes a murder suspect; and “Vespiary” is on the trail of two thieves who find an ancient treasure, one the mob is also looking for.

“Ready Player One”: You can do anything and be anyone in the virtual reality world called the OASIS. Too bad story doesn’t stand up to the scope of Steven Spielberg’s epic vision. PG-13 **1/2
