Meghan Markle's Half-Sister Joins Controversy-Themed Celebrity Big Brother

This summer, Britain’s new season of Celebrity Big Brother has taken on a new theme. According to Page Six, “The Eye of The Storm” will invite a group of celebrities who have been embroiled in their own media controversies into the Big Brother house to spice things up a bit. Among the potential contestants, a list that also includes kidnapped model Chloe Ayling and Bad Girls Club star Mehgan James, is Samantha Markle, Meghan Markle’s estranged half-sister, who made waves in the lead-up to Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding by appearing on multiple talk shows to gossip about their relationship.

Samantha claims to have raised Meghan for a number of years and is also reportedly writing a memoir entitled The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister. Before the wedding, she appeared on British talk shows like Loose Women and Piers Morgan’s Good Morning Britain to suggest that maybe Prince Harry would be better off marrying someone else.

And Samantha’s not the only one exploiting her family member’s new royal status: Meghan’s father Thomas, also estranged from her, has been complaining about how his daughter refuses to talk to him. For her part, Meghan is apparently terrified that if they have contact, he’ll leak their conversation to the press—like he did after a talk with Harry that was supposed to be private. “She doesn’t even know how to communicate with her dad without knowing he won’t exploit her. She lives in fear that he’ll leak their communication,” a source told Us Weekly. “She would like to speak to him, but there is no trust there anymore. And it doesn’t seem like it could ever be rebuilt. The damage is done.”

Returning creative director Paul Osborne, fresh from a 10-year stint of show-running reality TV in the U.S., has high hopes for the new season of Big Brother: “This year all the celebrity housemates have a unique shared experience, they’ve all weathered their own media storms,” he told Page Six. “Under Big Brothers eye their stories will be once again firmly in the spotlight and in the national conversation. This summer’s Celebrity Big Brother, like the new eye, is set to be electric.”
