Celebrity Big Brother 2018: The Apprentice star reveals why they TURNED DOWN reality stint

The Apprentice star Elizabeth McKenna was hotly tipped to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house for the first series of this year.

However, to what surely came as a blow to fans, she decided not to take part.

Now the businesswoman has divulged what kept her out of the competition.

She spilled exclusively to Express.co.uk: “There were several people that approached me wanting to talk about Big Brother and it’s something that I considered and I took a lot of advice on it.

“I was thinking about that decision for an awfully long time before I stepped away from actually having conversations that would’ve put me into the Big Brother House.

“I was in a period of restructuring my business and putting it where I wanted it to be to take it forward and I was in conversation with people about investment and all sorts of interesting conversations.

“At that point in my life and my career, to take a month out to do Big Brother was something that I just couldn’t have done.”

However, that doesn’t mean Elizabeth has ruled out signing up in the future.

“It wasn’t right for me at that time and what with the pressure that was on me and my family with the media and the press and all the hoopla around The Apprentice, I felt that it wasn’t right at that point.

“But that is not to say I wouldn’t consider other offers in the future.”

Elizabeth also dished she had received some warnings about going in from her own mother.

She said: “My mother didn’t want me going in a jacuzzi on national television. She said ‘There’s a jacuzzi and it’s outside, you’re not doing that, Elizabeth’.”

The launch date for the next series of Celebrity Big Brother has now been announced.

It’ll all kick off on Thursday 16 August and the show announced it via the official Big Brother Twitter account.

The message read: “SEVERE WEATHER WARNING! We know it usually rains on Launch Night, but you’ll need more than a brolly for this storm! #CBB kicks off on 16th August, 9pm on @channel5_tv.”

This year’s theme for the reality programme is the “Eye of the Storm”.

Creative director for the show Paul Osbourne revealed last moth that all of this series’ contestants will have faced media scandals.

He said in a statement: ”This year, all the celebrity housemates have a unique shared experience.

“They’ve all weathered their own media storms. Under Big Brother’s eye, their stories will be once again firmly in the spotlight and in the national conversation.”

Celebrity Big Brother begins August 16 on Channel 5.
